Weird and Wonderful Weekend

So, I’ve been fighting off this weird-ass respiratory infection that’s been haunting me for well over two weeks, closer to 3. It started when I sat outside about 4pm for a meeting, and proceeded to inhale all sorts of nasty pollen (and car fumes no doubt), which I had been studiously avoiding. A few days later the ensuing sinus pain was very bad, and then it migrated down to my lungs. And I have been coughing ever since.

And this is not polite coughing- cough cough done. No, this is cough like an asthmatic 80 year old man, cough till you can’t breathe, cough till you gag. Its gross. And painful.

Hauled myself to the doctor last Monday- he prescribed an antibiotic and some cough liqui-gels which he swore by and which did NOT A DAMN THING for me. Fortunately a few days later I got the nurse to call me in some stronger cough syrup (which was gone in 2 days, but nevermind that).

And all week I had Census training- which is a whole ‘nother post- so I coughed my way through that which I’m sure my classmates loved and generally did not get any better. Until this weekend.

This glorious, wonderful weekend. Here’s how it went- I slept till 10 on Saturday (normal)- had brunch, fell asleep on the couch at 2 or so, got up at 3 to get a drink, went to take a REAL nap until 5.

Then we went to Mayfest which was great fun- got a new pair of earrings from a local glass blower/jewelry gal (www.tamestyroar.com- check her out). We ate there of course: lemonade, corndogs, chicken on a stick and Ice Cream of the Future.

And then we went to see Conan O’Brien on his Prohibited from Being Funny On Television Tour 2010. Which rocked.

Case in point: Hanson and Conan do Never Been to Spain: Conan O\’Brien + Hanson (via YouTube)

So Sunday: Slept till 9- hauled self out of bed to go to church; church, lunch, home, read on couch, dinner?, nap from 6-9; food; sleep at 11.

Monday- sleep till Noon + full nights sleep
Tuesaday- sleep till 10 + TBA

So, apparentely I need massive amounts of sleep to get over an illness, chest congestion in particular. It’s not very adventurous, but its my life, at least for right now.
